| The Port of San Sebastián de La Gomera, is the first place stop for visitors with a proud history linked to the discovery of America. From the 15th century it was a usual stop over for the New World expeditions. The first and most important stops were those made by Christopher Columbus in his first three voyages and La Gomera, being the last Spanish territory that the Admiral set foot on before discovering it in 1492. Due to this important role of American adventure, La Gomera is also known as "Isla Colombina" (Columbine Island). The marina of San Sebastián de la Gomera is considered one of the most gifted in the Canaries. |
