|
The Council of La Gomera and the Association Ecotural offer guided tours to visitors to Gomeran production centres and food tasting.
Any tourist throughout the Island who would like to participate in this venture should go to the reception area in their hotel/guest house where pamphlets have been left and place their names on a list. Tours take place every Wednesday and Saturday.
The objective of these tours is to give the opportunity to all visitors to the Island of getting to know the local produce. The visitors may also participate in the actual tasting of the products together with commentaries and explanations with 15 people per group.

Tourist Guides Sites on mobile phone |
|
Visitors who choose La Gomera as their holiday destination and all other interested people have at their disposal access to tourist guides of the Island created by the Council and available via mobile telephones.
Anyone interested in the guides may download and store them free of charge in order to consult the information at any time they wish. Once the programme is downloaded, there is no need to connect to the internet to find the information that you require. This new service will give general information to the traveller about La Gomera with explicit reference not only to tourist services such as transport and lodging but also to documentation about traditions, food and Island landscape. It also includes a GPS system to facilitate geographic location of each area.

Valle Gran Rey for the protection of the environment in the ITB Berlin |
The backing of Valle Gran Rey for the protection of the environment stands out at the ITB Berlin which is celebrated during these dates due to the fact that a local company from the municipality will participate having received a certificate for sustainability and is the only company chosen in all of Spain. The minister of environment, Velten Arnold, confirmed that only 20 companies have received the certificate of sustainability and among them only one Spanish was chosen, which corresponds to a company in Valle Gran Rey. This allows us to attend the celebration and Velten Arnold hopes that more companies will also back the protection of the environment. He says it is necessary that "Oceanos" dedicate themselves to organizing tourist visits to show the beauty and wealth of the coast and the important investment which has been made to protect the environment, for example, reducing the use of plastic.
